Call for Volunteers
Baltimore City, along with other cities and states across the country, is mobilizing to end homelessness. United Way of Central Maryland and the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Human Services, Homeless Services Program (MOHS-HSP) are pleased to once again be partnering to sponsor the second annual Project Homeless Connect.
Project Homeless Connect is a national model for delivering services to the homeless community by bringing together services to meet every need into one place at one time. This model has been recognized by the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and has been replicated in up to 300 cities throughout the United States. Watch the video from last year's event.
The event provides on-site services for the local homeless community, such as medical exams and screenings, haircuts, legal advice, identification, access to healthy food, etc. Participating homeless and at-risk individuals and families are paired with a volunteer guide, who helps the participant navigate the various services and shares the experience of the event.
The second annual Project Homeless Connect-Baltimore will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Want to get involved? We will begin registering event volunteers in early June, so check back for opportunities to get involved!
